Democritus Racing Team was founded in 2015, in the city of Xanthi. The team represents Democritus University of Thrace in the Formula Student and FSAE (Formula Society of Automotive Engineers) educational engineering competitions, facing students from around the globe.
The aim of the competition is to design, build and test a prototype Formula-style race car, based on a series of rules, whose purpose is both ensuring on-track safety and promoting clever problem-solving.
The team is currently consisted of 32 undergraduate students, studying in different departments of Democritus University such as Industrial Engineering & Management, Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Architectural Engineering. In addition to their studies, the students have the opportunity to gain practical engineering experience and soft skills including project management and business planning.
